Dr. Ralph Smathers is President of Mammography Specialists Medical Group, Inc. which he founded in 1992. He opened the Los Gatos clinic office in 2002. Dr. Smathers did his radiology residency at University of Virginia in Charlottesville , VA. He graduated medical school from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Chicago , IL . Dr. Smathers is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and has specialized in breast imaging since 1985. He is a Fellow in the Society of Breast Imaging and a member of the Radiological Society of North America.

He was Chief of the Mammography Section and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at Stanford University Medical School , Stanford, CA . He has been a Medical Director for two large outpatient breast imaging centers in northern California . He has personally read over 300,000 breasts imaging studies and participated in over 3,000 breast biopsies. He has authored many medical publications on breast imaging. He has lectured internationally on breast imaging and has served as an expert witness in many medical legal cases related to breast imaging. He personally provides on-site imaging services for patients and physicians. He was formerly Medical Director of Mammography Plus and Co-Director of Good Samaritan Breast Care Center. He believes that patient's should have direct access to high quality breast imaging interpretations and procedures.

Dr. Dipa Patel joined Mammography Specialists Group as a fulltime radiologist in November, 2007. She has excellent training and is very experienced with core needle biopsies and J-wire localizations. She is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and specializes in Mammography, Breast Imaging, Interventional Procedures, and Breast MRI. Dr. Patel had a combined fellowship in Breast Imaging and Body Imaging at Elizabeth Wende Breast Clinic, Rochester, NY and Boston (University) Medical Center, Boston, MA. She did her radiology residency at Boston University/Boston City Hospital, in Boston, MA. Her medical school and undergraduate were at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was an Assistant Professor in the Breast Imaging Department at the University of California at San Francisco from 2004 to June 2007. Her experience includes time at the National Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Washington Radiology Associates PC. She is a Medical Advice Columnist for Women International Magazine.
